Jaquar Series Compared: Continental, Florentine, Fusion

The short version

Start with the finish. For chrome, Continental Prime is the usual choice for a standard bathroom, with Lyric, Aria and Fusion a step above it in Jaquar's MRPs. For chrome or black, look at Florentine Prime. For black or gold, Fusion Prime. For any of Jaquar's ten finishes, Opal Prime or Kubix Prime. Alive adds graphite, antique and stainless steel finishes but no gold. This grouping is our own shop-floor guidance, not a Jaquar classification.

Range names and finishes below are as Jaquar lists them on jaquar.com. Jaquar publishes an MRP for each product but no ladder of ranges, so we give the price order in words only and say where it comes from. For MRP ranges, see our Jaquar price list.

A note on names: on jaquar.com these four faucet ranges are listed as Continental Prime, Florentine Prime, Opal Prime and Kubix Prime. The plain names Continental, Florentine, Opal and Kubix appear there as sanitaryware collections.

Continental Prime

Chrome

Jaquar lists Continental Prime in chrome only. It sits at the lower end of Jaquar's faucet MRPs: when we compared the same chrome bib cock across ranges, only Clarion was below it.

Our guidance: the usual starting point for a standard bathroom in a 2 or 3 BHK flat, when chrome is what you want.

Lyric and Aria

Chrome

Two ranges, both in chrome only. On Jaquar's MRP for the same chrome bib cock, Lyric and Aria are level with each other and with Fusion, a step above Continental Prime.

Our guidance: the difference between them is shape, not finish or warranty. Pick the one whose lever and spout you like when you handle it.

Fusion and Fusion Prime

Chrome · Prime in five finishes

Jaquar lists these as two ranges. Fusion comes in chrome only and is level with Lyric and Aria in our comparison. Fusion Prime comes in Chrome, Black Chrome, Black Matt, Gold Bright PVD and Blush Gold Bright PVD.

Our guidance: Fusion if you want chrome. Fusion Prime if you want black or gold.

Florentine Prime

Three finishes

Jaquar lists Florentine Prime in Chrome, Black Matt and Black Chrome, and describes the design as inspired by Florence.

Our guidance: look here if you want chrome or black and do not need gold.

Opal Prime

Ten finishes

Jaquar offers Opal Prime in all ten of its faucet finishes: Chrome, Black Chrome, Black Matt, Graphite, Antique Bronze, Antique Copper, Stainless Steel, Gold Bright PVD, Gold Matt PVD and Blush Gold Bright PVD. On the chrome bib cock its MRP is above Lyric, Aria and Fusion, so we do not treat it as an entry range.

Our guidance: one range can run through the whole bathroom in the finish you pick, gold included.

Kubix Prime

Ten finishes

Jaquar offers Kubix Prime in the same ten finishes as Opal Prime. On the chrome bib cock its MRP is a step above Opal Prime and level with Solo.

Alive

Seven finishes

Jaquar lists Alive in Chrome, Black Chrome, Black Matt, Graphite, Antique Bronze, Antique Copper and Stainless Steel. There is no gold finish. On the chrome bib cock its MRP is the highest of the ranges we compared.

Our guidance: look here for graphite, antique or stainless steel finishes. Do not assume it is a low-priced range; check the MRP first.

We do not keep Artize at the showroom; we supply it on order, so ask us and we confirm what can be arranged and how long it takes.

How to choose: start with the finish

This is how we narrow it down at the counter. It is our guidance, not Jaquar's.

1. Pick the finish. It cuts the list fastest. Chrome only: Continental Prime, Clarion, Lyric, Aria, Fusion and Solo. Chrome or black: Florentine Prime. Chrome, black or gold: Fusion Prime. Any of Jaquar's ten finishes: Opal Prime and Kubix Prime. Chrome, black, graphite, antique or stainless steel, but no gold: Alive, Arc, Queen's, Queen's Prime, Ornamix Prime and Vignette Prime.

2. Keep one range and one finish through the bathroom. Then the basin mixer, the wall mixer and the other fittings match. Keep the warranty in mind: Jaquar gives 10 years on faucets in chrome and 5 years on faucets in any other finish.

3. Handle them before you decide. Shape and lever action are a matter of taste, and a photo does not settle it. See these ranges at our Jaquar showroom in Kothrud, Pune. Florentine Prime comes in Chrome, Black Matt and Black Chrome, and Jaquar describes its design as inspired by Florence. Fusion comes in chrome only. Fusion Prime comes in Chrome, Black Chrome, Black Matt, Gold Bright PVD and Blush Gold Bright PVD. Of the three, only Fusion Prime is offered in gold. What is the difference between Jaquar Continental and Continental Prime?

On jaquar.com the faucet range is listed as Continental Prime, in chrome. The plain name Continental appears there as a sanitaryware collection. The same holds for Florentine, Opal and Kubix: the faucet ranges are Florentine Prime, Opal Prime and Kubix Prime. If your plumber's list says only Continental, send us the model code and we check it against Jaquar's current list.

Which Jaquar ranges come in black or gold finishes?

As listed on jaquar.com: Black Chrome and Black Matt are offered in Florentine Prime, Fusion Prime, Opal Prime, Kubix Prime, Alive, Arc, Queen's, Queen's Prime, Ornamix Prime and Vignette Prime. Gold Bright PVD and Blush Gold Bright PVD are offered in Fusion Prime, Opal Prime and Kubix Prime. Gold Matt PVD is offered in Opal Prime and Kubix Prime. Continental Prime, Clarion, Lyric, Aria, Fusion and Solo are chrome only. Jaquar's warranty on faucets in any finish other than chrome is 5 years; in chrome it is 10 years.

What warranty does Jaquar give?

Jaquar publishes one bath warranty table for Jaquar, Artize and Essco, against manufacturing defects (jaquar.com/en/bath-warranty). It goes by product and finish, not by range. Faucets in chrome, metal accessories, and braided and shower hoses carry 10 years. Faucets in any finish other than chrome carry 5 years, and so do sensor faucets. Overhead showers, hand showers and health faucets carry 10 years. Flush valves carry 10 years. Concealed cistern body and mechanism carry 7 years; a wall-hung cistern carries 2 years. The ceramic body of sanitaryware carries 10 years; the soft-close mechanism, hinges and buffer carry 2 years. To claim, Jaquar asks for the warranty certificate filled, stamped and signed by the dealer, which we complete at billing; keep it with your GST invoice. Jaquar decides every claim under its own terms. Service is by Jaquar customer care for bathroom products on 1800-121-6808, Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM.
